Tornado Rebuild in Joplin with Extreme Makeover – The Howard Family

Kyle and Jill, along with their four boys, Keenan, Konnor, Korbin and Kaleb, will call “The Cabin” their new home. Kyle is firefighter who was on duty when the tornado struck in Joplin, Mo. on May 22, 2011. Before he was able to make it back to his own neighborhood to check on his family, Kyle spent the first few hours after the storm rescuing trapped victims and caring for hurt neighbors throughout the community. Though their home was completely destroyed, Jill and the boys survived with only minor injuries – shielded by a door that deflected debris during the raging storm.

The Howards are a laid back family that loves outdoor activities. Before the tornado ripped through Joplin, they were actually in the process of planning a camping trip. Their love for adventure was the inspiration for their rustic-style house. It’s Ply Gem’s hope that the unique mix of earth tone colors, along with the river rock inspired stone and wrap-around porch, will help them experience the peace of a mountain retreat vacation all year long.

Welcome home, Howard Family.
